Shelters

Transition Project Notes: The Willamette Center is actually one of the larger sites – currently home to 60 residents (during the pandemic). Willamette Center is in Sellwood, at 5120 SE Milwaukie Avenue. There are entrances on Milwaukie and on SE Mitchell, but the Milwaukie door is the best for food dropoff! Right by the kitchen, and no stairs If you ring the buzzer by the door, staff will meet you with a cart to load food in. You can also reach them directly at 503-488-7750. Dinner needs to be there by 6:30pm at the latest, though if anything needs to be reheated, earlier is better so staff have time to reheat and still serve on time!
Address: 5411 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97211
Parking: No parking available on MLK Blvd. Park on the side street.
Phone: (503) 488 7761
Transition Project Notes: Walnut Park did indeed extend their hours to 24.7 – though if the food can be dropped hot and ready to eat near mealtime (closer to 6pm) that’s always ideal, since they don’t have a kitchen to reheat food. If an earlier delivery works best, though, please do feel free – they have microwaves and can reheat by plate, if needed.
Address: 1525 NE 37th Ave, Portland OR 97232
Phone: (503) 282-8808 and then dial 0
Transition Project Notes: The Banfield Motel Center is a “newer” facility that has been opened up because of the pandemic. The motel has been converted to a shelter. The drive to the shelter is about 40mins - largely due to traffic on 405/I-84. It is pretty straightforward per GPS. When your turn into NE 37th, there are no obvious signs, so watch to make the right into the motel (before the access to the highway and opposite a big round tower with Director’s mortgage sign).
